Toronto Star Wheels, August 1:
Toronto Star Wheels and Wheels.ca published an overview of the best motorsports racing that's scheduled for the month of August, and the Hershey Centre Grand Prix was among their top picks for events not to be missed !  See the full story here:  http://www.wheels.ca/article/781198

Are you up for the challenge?  Do you think you're a great racer?  PROVE IT !
If you need 2 weeks practice on a familiar track, then are you hoping to win because you're a good racer, or because you memorized the track?  Anybody can win on a home track, but only the best racers can win a Grand Prix!  Hershey Grand Prix participants are skilled racers, who aren't afraid of challenges, and who believe in fair racing for all.
Come on out and prove your racing skills!

Toronto Kart Club in conjunction with Kawartha Durham Kart Club is pleased to announce the
4th Annual 2009 Hershey Centre Grand Prix, presented this year by Honda Power Products, MarIndustrial, and Robin Subaru.  This event is to be held in the south parking lot of the Hershey Centre in Mississauga on a temporary street course that was designed in conjunction with SuperMoto Canada and the Toronto Kart Club -- a track that is available only once per year!  This track has been proven to be technically challenging, fast, and has been an integral part of an action packed weekend of racing.  The entire weekend is open to the general public for the viewing of the races.  However, if you wish to see the karts up close, a paddock pass is available for a nominal fee.

Both hosting clubs are very excited to offer karting enthusiasts and racers alike a unique racing venue within the GTA in a very cost effective way.  Our goal this year is to make this event even more accessible and enjoyable for everyone than ever before.  Drivers of all ages will be competing in this event with some venturing into higher levels of racing such as Formula 1200/1600/2000, Formula BMW and yes, even Formula One.

Below, you will find all the details of this exciting weekend, including schedule, race order, and pre-registration form.  The event will entertain requests to add 2-cycle classes, as long as there is a minimum of 6 racers willing to run.

As this is a combined
race with KDKC, paddock space is very limited, and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.  Please complete the pre-registration form (see below), and hand in to us with your payment as soon as possible in order to guarantee your paddock spot(s).   Also, there will be no street parking permitted in the immediate area of the Hershey Centre.  Therefore, all participants are strongly encouraged to pre-register for this event, to avoid disappointment.

This is a points event for both TKC and KDKC, although racers from all other clubs are invited to attend.  For your peace-of-mind, there will be overnight security provided on-site in the paddock area at no additional charge.

We have provided a very useful cost breakdown of this event.  Realizing that financial times are difficult, TKC refuses to gouge or take advantage of the karting community, and we always strive to make racing FUN, FAIR and AFFORDABLE.

This will be a 2-day event, scheduled as follows:

Friday August 7, 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm ----  Registration, Paddock entry and trailer parking
Saturday August 8 ---  Practice and Qualifying.  Event Check-in will close at 11:00 am sharp.

The Spec Fuel station is the ESSO station, located at the SW corner of Hurontario and Britannia Rd. East -- see map below.

Spec Tires:  KDKC members may use their club's spec MG tires.  TKC members and all other visitors to use TKC spec MG or Vegas.  All ASN and TKC Supplementary regulations will apply.

It is very important that all vehicles and trailers enter the grounds of Hershey Centre from one direction only.
You must go to Kennedy Road, and then turn onto Rose Cherry Place, and proceed to the entrance of the South Lot, as shown on the map below by the black arrows.

Entry into the South Lot is for the purpose of trailer parking.  Only those who have registered for the event will be granted access to the paddock area.  If you have not registered, you will have to pull over to one side and see the event registrar first, before being allowed to enter the paddock to park your trailer.

Once your trailer has been parked and unhitched in the designated paddock space(s),  all towing vehicles must park in the North lot.  T
owing vehicles, including campers and RV's, are not permitted to park in the designated paddock spaces.

All participants are required to bring their own asphalt protection to use in their pit areas.  Please be respectful of the Hershey Centre grounds, and bring all oil products and containers home with you for proper disposable, and also recycle all of your beverage containers at home....these items do not belong in the trash bins.
